There's no previous stage experience necessary as our Foundation in Improv classes cover the core skills and tenets of Improvised performance; Yes And, Listening, Character, Story, Objects, Scene Work and Games. The course will be taught by Sean Mason and Brainne Edge.
Whether you're looking to start performing improv comedy, want to improve your listening and communication skills or just want to meet new people in a fun and friendly environment then this course is for you. Whatever your reason for taking a course, our Foundation in Improv workshops will help you learn new skills that can applied on stage and off.
The full cost of the course is just £115 (including non-refundable £30 deposit) and is limited to just 16 spaces. We continually work to keep workshops as affordable as possible. You can also book a space as a gift for friends, family or a colleague. These bookings must be paid in full. Please leave a note when making the booking that this is a gift including the recipients name. We will then contact you for the information of the person you have made the booking for and to send you a gift certificate.
Workshops run Saturday Afternoons 1-3pm for 8 sessions in the rehearsal spaces in the New Adelphi Building at The University of Salford. Due to venue unavailability, there will be no workshop on 17th February so the course will conclude Saturday 16th March. There are plenty of nearby paid parking options nearby and the building is just a short walk from Salford Crescent Station and several major bus routes.

In improv, an offer from your scene partner is often referred to as gifting. And what better gift to give this Christmas than 8 weeks of fun and laughter! If booking one of our comedy courses as a gift, please add a note when booking (you can also email us in advance). We will then know to contact you to get the name and contact information of the recipient for our records and so we can contact them before the course starts - but after a date specified by you. We will also email you a gift voucher and workshop sheet to give on the special day. Gift bookings must be paid in full.
Cancellation Policy:
If, after signing up, participants are unable to attend the course, you can request a refund minus the £30 deposit that will be retained as a cancellation fee. Cancellations within 5 days of the workshop starting will not receive a refund, however we are more than happy to transfer you onto a later course free of charge. If the company has to cancel, you you will be refunded the full amount.

Sean Mason has been performing with ComedySportz since 2007. He has performed and taught improv to people of all ages and abilities. Sean is also an actor and director and teaches comedy performance techniques at the University of Salford. Sean has also has taught comedy writing and performance skills for several festivals including Manchester Literature Festival.
Brainne Edge started ComedySportz UK in 2001 and has since taught and performed improv skills around the world. She has taught improvisation at the University of Salford for the last 10 years and before that at LIPA (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) for 4 years.
Our workshop facilitators have represented ComedySportz UK in the CSz World Championships and performed, taught and trained across the UK and beyond. They can't wait to meet you for this exciting digital improv course.
