Note: This course suitable for ages 17+
Always wanted to try your hand at Stand-Up Comedy but don't know where to begin? Sign up to our next course starting Saturday 20th January 2024 and running for 8 sessions.
No previous experience necessary! This exciting comedy course will look at ways of crafting great gags, exploring joke structure, and developing storytelling techniques to hone your comedic voice. There will be weekly writing exercises, as well as regular, friendly feedback on your material and performance. This course is ideal for anyone looking for laughs and wanting to try their hand at something new.
The course will be run by writer and comedian Sean Mason with masterclass sessions with pro acts Kate McCabe and Martin Mor.
'This is the first comedy course I have been on, I really didn't know what to expect. I'm writing had dried up over lockdown and I didn't feel I had much motivation. I had a brilliant tutor who ran the course with ease, for the first time in a while I felt motivated and made use of the individual tutorial time to help with my weekly tasks. I feel I have gotten alot out of this course, more knowledge around my persona as a performer, also how to structure jokes. If there are any more courses available, I wouldn't hesitate in joining one. Completely recommend.' Laura Bason - Creative Freelancer
The full cost of the course is just £115 (including non-refundable £30 deposit) and is limited to just 10 spaces. We continually work to keep workshops as affordable as possible. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you need to set-up an alternative payment plan.
You can also book a space as a gift for friends, family or a colleague. These bookings must be paid in full. Please leave a note when making the booking that this is a gift including the recipients name. We will then contact you for the information of the person you have made the booking for and to send you a gift certificate.
Workshops run Saturday Afternoons 1-3pm for 8 sessions in the rehearsal spaces in the New Adelphi Building at The University of Salford. Due to venue unavailability, there will be no workshop on 17th February so the course will conclude Saturday 16th March. There are plenty of nearby paid parking options nearby and the building is just a short walk from Salford Crescent Station and several major bus routes.
The course will conclude with a showcase night for your material - venue/date TBC. This event is free to attend so be sure to invite family and friends to support you and all the other acts!
The 20th January 2024 course is currently full. We do however operate a waiting list in case of last minute drop outs - drop us an email to have your name added to the list - or, alternatively, why not try our Foundation Improv course instead?
If you have booked a space but not received information from us please check our junk email folders before getting in touch.

We will then know to contact you to get the name and contact information of the recipient for our records and so we can contact them before the course starts - but after a date specified by you. We will also email you a gift voucher and workshop sheet to give on the special day. Gift bookings must be paid in full. If you have not received your gift voucher from us within five days of booking be sure to check your junk email folder. If it's not there then drop us an email.
