This course is an opportunity to further develop skills acquired in our Foundation Improv or equivalent course. We have a rolling curriculum with new workshops every time so the course can be taken multiple times. You can find a full schedule of classes further down the page. Please note that a foundation level of improv knowledge will be assumed for these workshops. If you are new to improv you should take our Foundation Improv course instead.
The full cost of the course is just £75. We continually work to keep workshops as affordable as possible. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need to set-up an alternative payment plan.
You can also book a space as a gift for friends, family or a colleague. These bookings must be paid in full. Please leave a note when making the booking that this is a gift including the recipients name. We will then contact you for the information of the person you have made the booking for and to send you a gift certificate.
Workshops run Saturday Afternoons 2-4pm for 8 sessions in the rehearsal spaces in the New Adelphi Building at The University of Salford. There are plenty of nearby paid parking options nearby and the building is just a short walk from Salford Crescent Station and several major bus routes. Please note that due to venue unavailability, there will be no classes on the 10th October meaning the course will conclude Saturday 14th November.
There will also be a joint showcase event on Tuesday 17th November at The English Lounge, Manchester. This will be a free event so be sure to invite friends and family! Don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions about the intermediate improv course.

Dropping in? You can pay for each week's session in advance online. To keep things simple you will only be able to book for the next available session and we'll update the product listing every SUNDAY or MONDAY once the course is underway. Following our summer break, its time to reconnect, make new gym buddies and get ready for 8 weeks of improv fun. In this session we'll focus on scenework but if you have a specific improv muscle you'd like to spend some time on we'll try and include an exercise for that.
Do you gravitate to low status characters or find you're always just playing... yourself? This session will explore ways of playing big characters that fill the space instead of hugging the backwall.
In this session we'll look at some classic shortform improv games. We'll get into the nuts and bolts to see how and why they work before developing new games of our own!
Have you ever heard the phrase "bring me solutions, not problems?" Well this is the opposite of that. Let's create more trouble for your characters, upping the emotional stakes instead of rushing to resolve conflicts! Don't break what isn't fixed!
Guessing games are a perennial favourite of shortform improv. This session will look at how these games work and tricks for making them fun for audiences and improvisers alike!

This session fine tunes the improviser away from traps they fall into during scenes. We'll also look at tricks for progressing and heightening scenes. Break some bad habits with a session in improv rehab!
It's the end of term and that means games! We'll put everything you've learned into practice with shortform games and scenework to get you ready for the workshop showcase on Tuesday 17th November!

If, after signing up, participants are unable to attend the course, you can request a refund minus the £30 deposit that will be retained as a cancellation fee. If you are unable to attend a Drop-In, contact us ASAP so your payment can be transferred to another session. Cancellations within 5 days of the workshop starting will not receive a refund, however we are more than happy to transfer you onto a later course free of charge. If the company has to cancel, you you will be refunded the full amount.
