The Totally Improvised Musical comes to Manchester!
The Totally Improvised Musical is our brand new show! Every night is opening night as our team of top improvisers compose a brand new musical from your suggestions – hitting all the right notes in any order they like. If you like musicals, this is the show for you. If you like comedy, this is also the show for you!
Originally scheduled for April 2020 we're delighted these shows can now go ahead from next month with more planned for the New Year. So whilst you'd think the delay would have given us time to just write a musical - where would the fun be in that? Our shows are unscripted and unmissable as every note, lyric and plot twist will be inspired by your suggestions!
(Hopefully we can all still fit into those fancy T-Shirts we had made before the pandemic).

Situated just off Lever Street, The Peer Hat is situated at the heart of Manchester's bustling Northern Quarter. There are plenty of nearby parking spots. There are also plenty of nearby bus routes and it's a short walk from Piccadilly Gardens for anyone travelling by tram.

Virtual Shows
We understand that not everyone can join us for our live improv shows and we'll be continuing our online ComedySportz matches on the first Saturday of every month. Online shows are free to watch - subscribe to our youtube channel now to never miss a match. You can watch our September show at the link below. The stream will go live at 6.45pm BST with the fun kicking off at 7pm BST on Saturday 4th September.
Comedy Club 4 Kids
We've got even more shows lined up with our friends at Comedy Club 4 Kids, including a very busy day on Saturday 4th September with shows in Nottingham and Coventry! We'll be sure to add more dates in the coming months so keep an eye out on our social media channels for announcements!
Waterside Arts
After a summer hiatus for renovations, we're back at Waterside Arts from Saturday 11th September with ComedySportz and ComedySportz 4 Tots. We have monthly dates into summer 2022 which are on sale now. We'll also be doing another Halloween themed special in October - more details coming soon!
Totally Improvised Musical
Over 18 months since we were first meant to do our opening night of The Totally Improvised Musical, we're pleased to announce the show will finally be coming to The Peer Hat in Manchester this October. Tickets will be going on sale soon - keep an eye on social media for announcements.
20th Birthday Weekend
This year marks 20 years of fun and games! To celebrate this milestone year we have a full weekend of shows to keep you laughing. We're kicking off the weekend at the theatre where it all began, Chorley Theatre, on Friday 19th November for another Chorley vs. Manchester special. If that's not enough all action, all improvised competitive comedy for you we then have ComedySportz and ComedySportz 4 Tots at Waterside Arts on Saturday 20th November. Tickets are available now - this is one weekend you won't want to miss!
Improvised Pantomimes
To finish off the year we are delighted to announce the return of our improvised pantomimes- oh yes we are! There are plenty of opportunities to catch shows at Waterside Arts this December, including a Tots special and a brand new adults only special as well!

What's that you say? Workshops? That's right, we're pleased to announce that in person workshops will be returning from the first week of October!

We'll still be operating our COVID safety measures to ensure a fun but safe nights entertainment for audience and players. Our venues may still be operating their own safety protocols.

Shows will be performed at The Peer Hat (14-16 Faraday Street, M1 1BE Manchester) on 24th March, 28th April and 19th May 2020. Shows start at 7.30pm and will run for 1h15m (approx). Tickets cost just £5 and will be available on the door.
Improvised Musical Workshop in Lancaster
We're also running a one day Musical Improv workshop in Lancaster on Saturday 29th February! This session will look at techniques for improvising showstopping tunes driven by characters, whilst juggling rhyme, melody and narrative. The workshop is open to all skill levels and singing talents - however some general experience of improv skills is suggested for those taking part. Just a few days into 2020 and we already have plenty lined up for the coming months! We've got a full slate of workshops and shows that you won't want to miss.
We're back at Waterside Arts in Sale on Saturday 18th January with two great shows. There will be plenty of laughter for all ages. ComedySportz 4 Tots (3pm, £5/£3) is our show for kids aged 6 and under. There will be plenty of games, gigles, silly songs and stories, with plenty of opportunities for kids to get involved in this highly interactive show. Then we have our New Year, New Games ComedySportz Special (6.30pm, £8/£6) with plenty of never before seen games - who knows, we might even make something up on the night... Take a course with us!
If you're looking to try your hand at comedy then we have a fantastic programme of workshops coming up. We still have space on our 8 week Foundation in Improv and Beginning Stand-Up Comedy courses. If you're looking to start the year by embracing uncertainty, finding your voice and rediscovering your playful side might we recommend a comedy course with us? We also have our returning Advanced Improv Drop-Ins (more classes to be announced soon) and our one day Presentation Skills workshop. If you have a public speaking engagement this year, whether its a business presentation or wedding speech, you won't want to miss this workshop.

For 2020 we've taken the decision to rest Improv Mullet at The Kings Arms. We're hoping to tour ComedySportz and gig more outside of Manchester as the year goes on.
