Musicals, Mullets and More this Month!

We’ve got lots of shows and workshops to get you laughing this October with our Halloween Spooktacular, The Improvised Musical, the return of Improv Mullet and the return of in person comedy courses (last few spaces remaining)!

ComedySportz Online Match!

We understand that not everyone can join us for our live improv shows – especially our international fans who have found us through our virtual shows – and we’ll be continuing our online ComedySportz matches on the first Saturday of every month. Subscribe to our youtube channel now to never miss a match. You can watch our September show at the link above. The stream will go live at 6.45pm BST with the fun kicking off at 7pm BST on Saturday 2nd October. Online shows are family friendly and free to watch.

Halloween Spooktacular

Our monthly Waterside Arts shows may be a bit early for Halloween but join us on Saturday October 23rd for some ghoulish gags and games because, well, we just love a theme! We’re adding a little pumpkin spice to our shows this month as our teams get the audience screaming with laughter, with spooky sketches and songs inspired by their suggestions. Don’t worry, there’s a referee on hand to issue penalties for bad jokes and bad behaviour – like trying to eat your brains!

We have two shows that day with ComedySportz 4 Tots at 3pm and ComedySportz at 6.30pm. Anyone in fancy dress gets a free treat!

Improv Comedy at The Barking Dog

Improv Mullet returns! We’re delighted to be bringing this adults only mixed format improv show to the Barking Dog, Urmston on Thursday 21st October! Why Improv Mullet? Because it’s shortform gags and games in the first half and longform scenes and sketches in the second.

There are two tickets types available – £5 entry or £13 for dinner and a show! We can attest that the food is absolutely fantastic.

Please arrive by 7.30pm to order your dinner upon arrival, showing the bar staff your ticket email. The show will start at 8pm. Dinner options are:

  • Chicken Curry Pie Steak & Ale Pie
  • Chicken & Wild Mushroom Pie
  • Cheese & Onion Pie (v)
  • Spiced Moroccan & Lentil Bake (v, vg, gf)

Each pie served with a choice of 2 sides and a gravy jug!

Improvised Panto Returns for December 2019!

Our Improvised Panto returns this December for more festive fun the whole family can enjoy! There will be heroes, villains, romance and songs aplenty all inspired by your suggestions. There will be plenty of opportunities to join in the fun – oh yes there will – in this highly interactive show full of gags and games… and every villain is going to need a henchman!

Our improvised pantomimes are a loving pastiche of traditional panto tropes and characters and alternative to the same old stories. Players don’t know which character they’re going to be play or what the story is going to be about as our fairy god-referees take suggestions from the audience. We will have live musical accompaniment for this year’s shows as well which is something we’ve wanted for a while!

Book Now!

We’ll be bringing our improvised panto to The Palace in Longridge for the first time this December. It’ll be a night of laughter and mirth as players craft a pantomime adventure with only your suggestions and a sprinkling of fairy dust to guide them. We can’t wait to bring the show to the Palace (eat your heart out Cinderella) next month.

6th December 7.30pm

This is our third year of doing the pantomimes and they’ve been a sell-out success at Waterside Arts in previous years. We’re delighted to be back this year with four more shows so be sure to book your tickets now!

7pm 13th December

3pm 14th December(This will replace our regular ComedySportz 4 Tots show but still be aimed at an age 6 and under audience so book appropriately!)

5pm 14th December

7pm 14th December

Finally, we’ll also be performing an Adults Only version of the Improvised Pantomime on Saturday 7th December at The Kings Arms, Salford. This will replace our regular Improv Mullet Show. The show will start at 7.30pm!

These are currently our last booked in shows for 2019 so you won’t want to miss them! We’ll then return in January with new workshops and our New Year, New Games special at Waterside Arts!

End of Year Shows 2018

As the days grow colder, the clocks go back and the year draws to a close, we’ve still got plenty of shows and events to keep you entertained.

We’ve got two shows at the end of October, including our Halloween Special at The Waterside in Sale, whilst November sees us celebrate 17 years of laughter back at the venue where it all began, Chorley Little Theatre.

comedysportz improvised pantomime shows festive fun

In December, our Improvised Pantomime returns for more unscripted festive fun inspired by your suggestions and a sprinkling of fairy dust. There are plenty of chances to catch the show  as we’ll be bringing it to The Way Theatre in Atherton and Ramsbottom Civic Hall on December 8th and then back to The Waterside on 14th and 15th December.

Finally, we’re delighted to have been asked to perform two ComedySportz shows at The Piece Hall on the 22nd and 27th December after our guest appearance at their kids comedy show last year. These will be hour long shows so you’ll have plenty of time to spend in the shops and cafes of this fabulous venue. It’s a great way to spend a day in that gap between Christmas and New Year.

Tickets for all of these events are on sale now – book early to avoid disappointment! Tickets, times and dates for all of our upcoming shows can be found here.

And if all that isn’t enough comedy for you, we’ll also have Improv Mullet on the first Saturday of every month at The Kings Arms and New Adelphi Comedy Night on the first Tuesday of every month at The New Adelphi Studio at Salford University.
