First of all we want to say a big thank you to everyone who joined us for our first live shows since early 2020 in May! We hope you had a fun and safe time and can’t wait to see you all again at our next live match at Waterside Arts on Saturday 26th June. We’ll be back with ComedySportz (book now) and ComedySportz 4 Tots (book now)!
We’re also continuing our online matches every Wednesday and first Saturday of the month at 7pm BST. You can watch tonight’s match by following the video below – don’t forget to subscribe to our youtube channel and never miss a match!
We’re also delighted to be joining our friends at Comedy Club 4 Kids at The Core at Corby Cube on Saturday 12th June for some afternoon fun (book now)! For this month’s full line up visit our shows page today.
And the fun doesn’t stop there! In July there’s the ComedySportz Worldwide online championship and we’ll be bringing ComedySportz to the Buxton Fringe Festival and Lock 91 in Manchester – more details coming soon! Subscribe to our newsletter to get monthly updates on all upcoming shows and workshops.
With England on course to hit the next stage of the post-lockdown roadmap on May 17th we are extremely hopeful that live shows will return from the end of this month! We are delighted to announce you can now book tickets for ComedySportz and ComedySportz 4 Tots on 29th May 2021 at Waterside Arts, Sale.
ComedySportz is the all action, all improvised competitive comedy show for all ages you don’t want to miss! Our teams are ready to go for comedy gold with unscripted gags and games inspired by your suggestions. They’ve sharpened their wits and ironed their kits for what promises to be a fantastic return to live shows. Who wins? YOU decide!
We are making some temporary changes to keep shows fun and safe for players and audience alike. You can find out more about some of the changes we’re making in the video below:
We will continue to follow government guidelines as they are updated and may put additional measures in place before the show. The venue will also have their own COVID safety measures in place – you can find out more about these when booking or by contacting box office directly. After booking you will receive an email from Waterside detailing the safety measures in place for the show. In the unfortunate event that our May show is unable to go ahead you will be able to transfer your tickets to future shows or get a refund.
Not ready to return to live shows yet? We’re continuing our online shows on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7pm BST (schedule may change as more venues open up with more live shows returning). Subscribe to our youtube channel today and never miss a show!
Our Improvised Panto returns this December for more festive fun the whole family can enjoy! There will be heroes, villains, romance and songs aplenty all inspired by your suggestions. There will be plenty of opportunities to join in the fun – oh yes there will – in this highly interactive show full of gags and games… and every villain is going to need a henchman!
Our improvised pantomimes are a loving pastiche of traditional panto tropes and characters and alternative to the same old stories. Players don’t know which character they’re going to be play or what the story is going to be about as our fairy god-referees take suggestions from the audience. We will have live musical accompaniment for this year’s shows as well which is something we’ve wanted for a while!
We’ll be bringing our improvised panto to The Palace in Longridge for the first time this December. It’ll be a night of laughter and mirth as players craft a pantomime adventure with only your suggestions and a sprinkling of fairy dust to guide them. We can’t wait to bring the show to the Palace (eat your heart out Cinderella) next month.
This is our third year of doing the pantomimes and they’ve been a sell-out success at Waterside Arts in previous years. We’re delighted to be back this year with four more shows so be sure to book your tickets now!
Finally, we’ll also be performing an Adults Only version of the Improvised Pantomime on Saturday 7th December at The Kings Arms, Salford. This will replace our regular Improv Mullet Show. The show will start at 7.30pm!
These are currently our last booked in shows for 2019 so you won’t want to miss them! We’ll then return in January with new workshops and our New Year, New Games special at Waterside Arts!
We hope you’ve had plenty of summer fun and are ready to get back to school… No? Don’t worry we’ve shows to keep you laughing at Waterside Arts… find out more below!
We’re just about recovered from the Edinburgh Fringe now and had a little time to reflect on what has been an amazing summer of laughter, jokes and comedy shenanigans.
It kicked off with our time at the ComedySportz World Championship where we were honoured to be chosen to perform in the final against host city Philadelphia!
Just a few days later and we were off to the Edinburgh Fringe to do two shows a day (some of us more) plus guest slots for 17 days! We had a fantastic time with amazing audiences and suggestions plus visiting players from ComedySportz worldwide.
A big thank you, as always, to all the staff at Laughing Horse Free Fringe Festival and the staff at our venues the Pear Tree and The Free Sisters.
You can catch up with all that we got up to over at our instagram.
…But the fun isn’t quite over as ComedySportz and ComedySportz 4 Tots return to Waterside Arts for some more family friendly fun on Saturday 31st August!
Never seen a ComedySportz match before? We have two teams, one ref, no script and lots of jokes as players fight for your laughs with quick-witted gags, games, sketches and songs. There are penalties for bad behaviour and bad jokes as the referee ensures a good clean match – it’s a family friendly show after all. Who wins? You decide!
ComedySportz 4 Tots is a show for kids aged 6 and under with lots of silly stories, songs and games guaranteed to make you giggle. There are plenty of big laughs for little kids and loads of opportunities for children to get involved in the fun. You can find out more about these and all of our upcoming events on our shows page.
Speaking of back to school, our next batch of workshops starts in September. We’re starting with a special one off Presentation Skills workshop and our new intermediate drop ins on Saturday 28th September. New to Improv? Our Foundation in Improv and Beginning Stand Up Comedy courses start a week later on Saturday 5th October and will run for 8 weeks. You can find out more at our workshops pages.
