Online Improv Drop-Ins

take an online improv class

COVID-19 UPDATE: All face-to-face workshops are cancelled for the foreseeable future. But that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop with our Improv Digital Drop-Ins, our online 6 week Foundation Improv course or our online Stand-Up Comedy course!

We’re running a rolling curriculum of fun tools to add to your skill set – previous workshops have covered everything from advanced scene and character work to improvised songs and rap. We hope this more flexible way of running the sessions will allow people to attend our improv drop-in workshops as often as they like to hang out, play and learn new skills!

For now this classes will continue online but we are also continuing to review the possibility of restarting face-to-face workshops in the autumn. For updates check out our social media pages or sign up to our mailing list.

These classes are for people who want to expand their skills and will assume basic improv knowledge. New to Improv? Try our online foundation course. If you have any questions about our classes please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Saturday 26th September – 2.30-4.30pm – £5

Do you ever find your scenes are missing a spark or conflict? Does your short form brain have you resolving conflicts too quickly and robbing a scene of the opportunity to go in really interesting directions? This session will look at how we can add complications to our scenes and give our characters something to play with. A great way to spice up stale scenes or give yourself an extra challenge. The session will be lead by Sean Mason.

We will continue to provide Improv Drop-Ins where possible via digital streaming. Once you have paid for your class we will send you an email with a schedule and a link that will allow you to access the Digital Drop-In. (Please email us if you do not receive the link before 2pm on the day of the class – do check your spam/junk email folders first!)

Saturday 3rd October 2.30-4.30pm: Let’s Agree To Agree

Acceptance is fun! In this workshop we’ll learn to spend less time judging choices and more time enjoying each other’s offers. We’ll foster collaborative building through agreement, surrendering to the group and trusting to its direction.

Saturday 10th October 2.30-4.30pm: Let’s Find The Tilt

Focusing on that moment in scenes when everything changes… We’ll revise completing the platform and setting up the three Ws at the start of scenes before looking at how to effectively shake things up and tilt the characters’ world on its head.

Saturday 17th October 2.30pm-4.30pm: Let’s Play With Genre

Is your shakespeare shaky? Don’t know your film noir from your soap opera? This fun and friendly improv drop-in will explore how we can play with different genre games with some handy hints on how to approach genres both familiar and not so familiar!

All of our improv drop-in classes cost just £5. You will be able to book onto a session the week it is scheduled for. You can book on right up until the start of the session. We’ll be adding more to this list over the next few weeks so you can see what sessions we have in store!
