Lockdown Laughs for LGBTQ+ Charities
This Saturday (13th June 2020) we're hosting an international all-star show of LGBTQ+ ComedySportz players to raise money for two fantastic organisations: The Proud Trust and Rainbow Noir.
Inclusivity is at the heart of what we do and we believe coming together to play and have fun is the best way to build bridges. We’re delighted to be bringing LGBTQ+ ComedySportz players together from Manchester UK to the west coast of America for this very special online show.
“CSz has always been about bringing the fun and making accessible shows for EVERYONE. That's why I'm proud that we do PRIDE,” says ComedySportz player Kate McCabe.
ComedySportz has been performing shows online since lockdown went into effect and have been relying on audience donations to support players. For this show however the team are urging audiences to donate to support The Proud Trust and Rainbow Noir, a support group for LGBTQ+ people of colour.
As Braínne, ComedySportz player and manager, explains, “We’re keeping the shows free because we believe representation matters and we don’t want people to miss out on the show if they couldn’t afford to watch, however we will be asking audience members to support our chosen charities if they can afford to do so.”
The Proud Trust is a life-saving and life enhancing organisation that helps LGBT+ young people empower themselves, to make a positive change for themselves, and their communities. Donate here.
Rainbow Noir is a volunteer lead social, peer support and community action group, which celebrates and platforms people of colour who identify as LGBTQ+. Donate here.

Valentine's Special 2020!
Quick-witted Improv troupe seeks audience with GSOH for laughter and fun... There will be plenty of love and laughter in the air with our Valentine's special at Waterside Arts on the 15th February. This year team captains (and real-life couple) Bron and Sean will be going head to head to see who has to pay for their Valentine's meal this year...
The last time the two went head-to-head like this Bron's team won ...which meant Sean treated her to some (very romantic) chips on the way home. Which team will win this year? You decide!
There will be plenty of funny valentine's games to get you in the laughing mood. Whether you're on a first date or just out with mates then this show is guaranteed to get you laughing!

Our upcoming Beginning Stand-Up Comedy course is currently full. If you'd like to take a course with us please drop us an email and we'll let you know if we have any drop-out spaces to be filled. Improvised Musical Shows and Workshop
Join us as we go from suggestion to sensation with our Totally Improvised Musical show coming to Manchester this Spring! If you like musicals, this is the show for you. If you like comedy, this is also the show for you!
Every show is opening night as our team of top improvisers compose a brand new musical from your suggestions - hitting all the right notes in any order they like!
Shows will be performed at The Peer Hat (14-16 Faraday Street, M1 1BE Manchester) on 24th March, 28th April and 19th May 2020. Shows start at 7.30pm and will run for 1h15m (approx). Tickets cost just £5 and will be available on the door.
Improvised Musical Workshop in Lancaster
We're also running a one day Musical Improv workshop in Lancaster on Saturday 29th February! This session will look at techniques for improvising showstopping tunes driven by characters, whilst juggling rhyme, melody and narrative. The workshop is open to all skill levels and singing talents - however some general experience of improv skills is suggested for those taking part. New Year, New Games, New Workshops, New Shows!
Just a few days into 2020 and we already have plenty lined up for the coming months! We've got a full slate of workshops and shows that you won't want to miss.
We're back at Waterside Arts in Sale on Saturday 18th January with two great shows. There will be plenty of laughter for all ages. ComedySportz 4 Tots (3pm, £5/£3) is our show for kids aged 6 and under. There will be plenty of games, gigles, silly songs and stories, with plenty of opportunities for kids to get involved in this highly interactive show. Then we have our New Year, New Games ComedySportz Special (6.30pm, £8/£6) with plenty of never before seen games - who knows, we might even make something up on the night... If you're looking to try your hand at comedy then we have a fantastic programme of workshops coming up. We still have space on our 8 week Foundation in Improv and Beginning Stand-Up Comedy courses. If you're looking to start the year by embracing uncertainty, finding your voice and rediscovering your playful side might we recommend a comedy course with us? We also have our returning Advanced Improv Drop-Ins (more classes to be announced soon) and our one day Presentation Skills workshop. For 2020 we've taken the decision to rest Improv Mullet at The Kings Arms. We're hoping to tour ComedySportz and gig more outside of Manchester as the year goes on.
We do however have a brand new show coming to the Peer Hat in March! From suggestion to sensation our players will compose a brand new musical from your suggestions - hitting all the right notes in any order they like! If you like musicals, this is the show for you.
