Always wanted to try your hand at Stand-Up Comedy but don’t know where to begin? We are delighted to announce the return of our face-to-face teaching for the end of 2021. Our next 8 week Beginning Stand-Up Comedy course will commence Saturday 2nd October 2021.

This exciting comedy course will look at ways of crafting great gags, exploring joke structure, and developing storytelling techniques to hone your comedic voice. There will be weekly writing exercises as well as regular, friendly feedback on your material and performance. This course is ideal for anyone looking for laughs and wanting to try their hand at something new. The course will be run by stand-up and improviser Kate McCabe.

As comedy venues continue to re-open now is the perfect time to get gig ready, brush up on your comedy writing skills or practice delivering comedic material. No previous experience necessary!

‘This is the first comedy course I have been on, I really didn’t know what to expect. I’m writing had dried up over lockdown and I didn’t feel I had much motivation. Kate is a brilliant tutor and ran the course with ease, for the first time in a while I felt motivated and made use of the individual tutorial time to help with my weekly tasks. I feel I have gotten alot out of this course, more knowledge around my persona as a performer, also how to structure jokes. If there are any more courses available, I wouldn’t hesitate in joining one. Completely recommend.’ Laura Bason – Creative Freelancer

The full cost of the course is just £115* and is limited to just 10 spaces. We continually work to keep workshops as affordable as possible. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need to set-up an alternative payment plan.

Workshops run Saturday Afternoons 12.30-2.30pm for 8 weeks at the Barking Dog pub in Urmston. There is plenty of nearby parking. The Barking Dog is also accessible via bus (15, 23, 255) and is a short walk from Urmston train station.

Our facilitators will be taking a lateral flow test the day before each workshop and will only be in attendance assuming the test is negative – we will contact you asap if any problems arise.

We will be aiming to keep a 1m distance within the workshops. Masks are not mandatory, but would be preferred when workshoppers are seated and not in an exercise.
